Geographic Segmentation (Geolocation)
Geographic Segmentation allows you to categorise customers by custom geographic regions that are meaningful to your business. Unlike suburb, city or postcode reporting, Geolocations are completely user-defined and can represent any area or grouping you choose.
This makes it easy to analyse sales by regions that match your marketing, delivery areas, territories or customer demographics rather than relying on standard address information.
Why Use Geolocations?
Every business defines its market differently. Geolocations let you create your own regional groupings, for example:
- North, South, East and West sales regions
- Delivery zones
- School districts
- Shopping precincts
- Sales territories
- Local communities
- Marketing campaign regions
- Tourist areas
- Any other grouping that is relevant to your business
Because Geolocations are entirely customisable, they can be far more useful than traditional address-based reporting.
How It Works
Once Geolocations have been configured, Ramsys can prompt staff to select a Geolocation for every sale.
The selected Geolocation is then:
- Recorded against the sale for reporting and analysis.
- Used throughout Ramsys reports and dashboards to analyse sales by region.
CRM Customers
When the sale is linked to a CRM member, Ramsys becomes even smarter.
- If the customer does not already have a Geolocation recorded, the selected Geolocation is automatically saved against their CRM record.
- On future visits, Ramsys will automatically apply that customer's Geolocation to the sale without prompting staff again.
This ensures:
- Faster checkout times.
- Consistent reporting.
- Accurate customer geographic data with minimal staff input.
Typical Workflow
- Staff begin a sale.
- If Geographic Segmentation is enabled, Ramsys asks for the customer's Geolocation.
- The sale is completed with that Geolocation recorded.
- If the customer is a CRM member, the Geolocation is saved against their record (if one does not already exist).
- Future CRM sales automatically use the stored Geolocation without requiring staff input.
